ABSTRACT

Introduction: Covid-19 pandemic is further spreading its leg in India. Indigenous Covishield vaccination drive was started to protect people from the disease. Objective: This observational cross sectional study was conducted to assess the morbidity and mortality pattern amongst Covishield vaccinated people Vs non-vaccinated patients of covid19. Methodology: This observation study was conducted in a dedicated covid-19 hospital. All RTPCR covid-19 patients were included. The data on vaccination against covid-19 amongst the patients was obtained, and analysed using statistical software. Results: The study population comprised of 155 cases of confirmed covid-19 patients of which 24 (15.48%) were fully vaccinated, however 41 (26.45%) and 90 (58.06%) were partially and non-vaccinated respectively. Fully vaccinated people were protected from development of severe form of disease (X2=9.57, d.f=2, p=0.0083). Mortality was significantly less amongst vaccinated group (X2=4.83, d.f=1, p= 0.028). Conclusion: Patients who are completely vaccinated with Covishield vaccine are protected from development of severe form of diseases and deaths and hence mass vaccination of Indian population to overcome the pandemic is required at the earliest.

ABSTRACT

Metastasizing ameloblastoma (MA) is a very rare odontogenic tumor with 2% of incidence rate. It exhibits benign histopathological features and malignant intrinsic quality in the form of metastasis which makes it a little more than a pathological curiosity. Various molecular aspects related with malignant behavior have been discussed. Because of this, it provides a diagnostic challenge for clinicians and surgeons. It is an elusive lesion which should be more researched and studied so that definitive diagnostic features can be put forward. The objective of this paper is to review the molecular aspect involved in the pathogenesis of MA which will aid in differentiating non-MA from MA and thus helping in providing proper treatment at an early stage

ABSTRACT

Fibroblasts at the pre-metastatic site exhibited characteristic trait for creation of metastatic milieu which aid in the formation of distant metastasis, and are called as metastasis associated fibroblasts (MAFs).Array of studies showed that MAF bears similar attributes as that of carcinoma associated fibroblasts present in primary tumor. MAFs showed expression of specific type of molecules and pathways to form required pre-metastatic microenvironment at the distant site. It will be important to unrevealed characteristics features in OSCC so as to help in implicating the new therapeutic strategies.

ABSTRACT

In this study, the dye degrading the ability of marine cyanobacteria, Geitlerinema sp TRV27 was tested against the textile dye Acid black 52. Optimum conditions like pH, temperature, dye concentration for acid black 52 dye degradation were studied and were found to be pH 7, 25±2°C. More than 50% of degradation was observed for the tested maximum dye concentration, 100 ppm. The degraded dye intermediate was found to be naphthalene by GC-MS analysis and their toxicity on seed germination was studied. The dye treated biomass was used for the production of biodiesel and the physicochemical properties of biofuel were found to be within the standard limits.

ABSTRACT

Musculocutaneous nerve is a branch of lateral cord of brachial plexus. It innervates muscles of flexor compartment of arm and continuous as the lateral cutaneous nerve of forearm without any communication with median or any other nerves.1 The present report describes a case of variation in musculocutaneous nerve observed in adult male cadaver during routine dissection on the right side. The musculocutaneous nerve did not pierce coracobrachialis muscle and gave a communicating branch to median nerve in the middle of the arm. It is important to be aware of this variation while planning a surgery in the region of axilla or arm, as these nerves are more liable to be injured during operations.
